Yoga

Our on-campus, no-sweat flow yoga classes help you maintain and gain flexibility, build strength, and relax your mind. The class is ongoing and runs most the year, except on university holidays and during the December break. Details on current and upcoming yoga sessions are below.

Session Dates & Class Days/Times

Current Session: Wednesday, May 1 – Wednesday, June 26 (no class on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27)
Upcoming Session: Monday, July 1 – Wednesday, August 21

Classes run Mondays and Wednesdays, noon – 1 p.m.

Cost
Prepay rates are $80 for the entire session ($5 per class for 16 classes) or $40 for a Monday-only or Wednesday-only half session. Drop-in rates are $8 per class. Cash or check payments (made out to Jenni Wade) are accepted. (Note: Prepayers should pay within a week of the start of the session. Drop-in payments should be made by the end of each class.)

Hoopfest

Hoopfest Spokane—the world’s largest three-on-three basketball tournament—will take place on June 29 and 30, 2019. WSU Health Sciences and Chancellor DeWald will be sponsoring Hoopfest teams again this year.

2017 Hoopfest teams

If you would like to take part in one of the sponsored Hoopfest teams, please email the Wellness Collaborative at michael.lynch@wsu.edu with the following information:

  • Team name (If you’d like to participate, but don’t have a team, please contact us and we will try to place you on a team)
  • Names of players (3 minimum, 4 maximum)
  • Team contact

Teams must be made up of WSU Health Sciences employees and/or students. Priority will be given to teams that have not been sponsored before.

 

Softball

The Wellness Collaborative is partnering with the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to once again organize a campus softball team to play in the summer of 2019. Sign up today to enjoy great people and fun times playing softball (managed by the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation).

Practice Dates/Times
Tuesday, July 2; Wednesday, July 3, and Tuesday, July 9, from 5:30p.m – 7:00 p.m. Location to be determined (hopefully Liberty Park, Spokane. WA – approx. 1.5 miles from campus).

Game Dates/Times
Thursday evening games at 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday nights, starting on July 11 and ending on August 22. Game location: Dwight Merkel Sports Complex or Franklin Park Softball Complex.

To achieve continuity of play among team members during our games, we hope to have enough players to field two groups. With this in mind, even if you can only commit to one Thursday night, please sign up!

Cost to Play
Free—thanks to the support of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Suggested Equipment

  • Softball/baseball mitt
  • Softball bat (optional)
  • Sturdy pair of shoes/cleats

A minimal fee of $25 will pay for your team t-shirt, team hat, and an end-of-season celebration. Your payment in cash will be collected in person.
