Facilities Operations at WSU Spokane is responsible for the management of the buildings and grounds, parking, and mailing services. The cleanliness, safety, and performance of our campus are the highest priority for our maintenance, grounds, and custodial teams.

Labor Rates

Please note that some requests may be billable for labor and materials (if applicable). The following are the labor rates per shop.

  • Grounds and Custodial staff: $52 per person, per hour (with a minimum charge of one hour), plus a 10% service center charge, if applicable.
  • Maintenance staff: $62 per person, per hour (with a minimum charge of one hour) plus a 10% service center charge, if applicable.

Facilities Operations Services

Building Maintenance

Includes maintenance and servicing of issues such as temperature control problems, ceiling leaks, plumbing issues, non-functioning lights, electrical problems, etc. If you encounter an issue within a campus building and are unsure who to notify, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Custodial

The custodial tasks include cleaning/sanitizing, removing trash and recyclables, caring for floors and carpets, and dusting, as time permits. The majority of the custodial staff works 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.

Grounds

The grounds crew is responsible for the landscape maintenance of the 55-acre campus, which includes maintaining sprinkler systems, caring for lawns and trees, planting shrubs and flowers, and applying lawn chemicals, among other tasks. During snow season, snow removal is the top priority, and other work requests and tasks are done only as time permits.
