Flow Cytometry

Flow cytometry is a highly quantitative high throughput technique to accurately detect and quantitate various cell components at the single-cell level.

Training and Scheduling Use

Contact the research supervisor to arrange training. Training is for instrument use only. Please do not bring experimental samples to training without prior approval.

Use of the flow cytometry facility is primarily for trained users, though the research supervisor may be requested to operate the systems. You can schedule planned usage on the calendars located by each piece of equipment.

Equipment

CytoFLEX LX

The CytoFLEX LX is a compact bench-top flow cytometer for the qualitative and quantitative measurement of biological and physical properties of cells, bacteria, algae, yeasts, microparticles, and even nanoparticles like extracellular vesicles. This model expands research possibilities with up to 4 laser and 16 color parameters (please see the configuration below for details).

Cytoflex has revolutionary system presents optimal excitation and emission, minimizing light loss and maximizing sensitivity, which means that dim populations in the samples can be easily detected. For higher throughput applications, a plate loader module is set up in this instrument. All the filters of Cytoflex LX are designed to be exchanged easily, which allows investigators to optimize for experimentally defined needs.

SONY MA900 Cell Sorter

The Sony MA900 is a powerful, easy to use benchtop cell sorter including a patented microfluidic chip-based design. MA900 has 4-laser (488 nm, 405 nm, 561 nm, and 638 nm) on two beam spots. It supports 12 fluorescence parameters and 4-way sorting. The MA900 offers 70 μm, 100 μm and 130 μm nozzle sizes that meet the needs of most sorting applications. Sort devices supported include 2-way and 4-way tubes as well as 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, and 384-well plates.
