WSU Spokane Eastern Washington University Transfer Scholarship

Introduction

What was once a decrepit rail yard is now a beautiful, 48-acre health sciences campus on the east edge of downtown Spokane. Sitting along the Spokane River, the WSU Spokane campus is a growing and important piece of Spokane’s identity.

In May of 1989, Washington Governor Booth Gardner signed legislation that established WSU Spokane and other branch campuses across the state. Since then, the campus has grown and in 2010, the WSU Board of Regents officially designated WSU Spokane as the university’s health sciences campus.

WSU Spokane is home to the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, and the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

WSU Spokane is also part of the larger University District which includes Eastern Washington University (EWU), University of Washington, Gonzaga University, Whitworth University, and the Community Colleges of Spokane. This unique partnership is appreciated by many EWU alumni, retirees, and friends who have made a commitment to support students whose roots began at EWU with a scholarship to further their education at WSU Health Sciences Spokane.

  • Current cumulative GPA

Selection Process

The WSUS Scholarship Committee will review all applications and select the award recipients. Applications and applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Completeness of application
  • Response to prompt
  • Unofficial transcripts from EWU
  • Plan to enroll in the fall semester.

Selection Committee

Consists of faculty and staff from each college and campus representatives.

Awarding

The committee will select one student who will be awarded $1,000 credited to their WSU account. The funds will be credited once the student is enrolled in the fall semester. Recipients who do not enroll in the fall semester, forfeit the award and the Scholarship Committee will decide if it goes to another applicant.

The awarded students will be expected to write a letter of gratitude to the donor who made the scholarships possible. Scholarship awards will not be posted to student accounts until thank you letters are received.

Scholarship recipients are recognized at the Chancellor’s Awards in April. Scholarships will be applied toward Fall tuition.

These are one-year, non-renewable awards. Recipients will be awarded the scholarship once and be ineligible to receive it in future years. Students who do not receive an award can apply again.
